One of my favorite stretches of the California desert lies near Whitewater, below the San Jacinto Mountains at the gateway to the Coachella Valley. The dunes and fauna are magnificent, shaped by the persistent winds that sweep through the pass. Finding a quiet day to paint here is rare, but the beauty of this rugged, ever-changing landscape keeps drawing me back.
It’s a remarkable place where the mountains meet the desert, and the wind is always part of the experience.
